Job summary

The role emphasizes correct body mechanics, ongoing education of OR staff, and stocking of supplies. Minimum high school diploma; preferred accredited Surgical Technician or Medical Assistant program; BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology.
• 12 years of experience as a surgical technologist or similar role preferred.
• Minimum: BLS certification; preferred: Certified Surgical Technician or Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the sterile field for various surgical procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during procedures.
• Handle specimens, prepare and monitor medications on the sterile field, assist with dressings.
• Set up a sterile and sanitary environment and maintain sterile field throughout procedures.
• Use proper body mechanics to move and position patients and equipment; participate in orientation and education of OR staff.
• Stock and restock medical supplies; inspect, replace, and sterilize instruments.
