Job summary

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support perioperative services in the operating room. The role performs surgical duties under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, preparing the OR, assisting with instruments, and scrub duties for procedures.

Primary responsibilities include setup and turnover of the operating room, and handling cultures and specimens as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Surgical Technician license/certification may be required per job posting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews surgeon needs, obtains supplies and equipment, ensures room cleanliness and opens sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties and assists with collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Turns over room and ensures instruments and equipment are returned to proper locations.
