Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a capable Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. The role involves preparing the room with instruments and supplies, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting in patient positioning before and during procedures.

Responsibilities include ensuring equipment is ready, adapting procedures for different patient ages, and contributing to postoperative instrument care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and completion of a nationally accredited Surgical Technology Program.
• One year experience as a surgical technician desirable.
• BLS Certification; certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure.
• Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for treatment.
• Checks all equipment/instruments needed, prior to each procedure to ensure proper functioning.
• Follows aseptic technique, when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures. Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures.
• Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures.
• Maintains safe environment for patient, co-workers and self, per hospital policies and procedures.
