Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pennsylvania is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will assist with setup, maintain aseptic practices, and help position and drape patients for procedures, contributing to safe and efficient surgeries.

The role requires familiarity with surgical instruments, counts, and collaboration with the surgeon and OR staff to ensure patient readiness and optimal care throughout the perioperative process.

Qualifications

• This role requires completion of a surgical technologist program or equivalent training.
• Experience in the operating room and adherence to aseptic standards is preferred.
• Prior exposure to surgical instrumentation and patient care workflows is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilizes aseptic techniques and follows medication and specimen handling policies.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause.
• Understands and adapts to surgeon preferences and patient care variables; updates materials as needed.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote a cost-effective, efficient patient environment.
