Job summary

Townsen Memorial Surgery Center - Woodlands is seeking a full-time Surgical Technician to join our team. The role includes scrubbing in, assisting physicians, and supporting sterile processing, inventory, and room turnovers in a fast-paced OR environment.

Responsibilities include handling instrumentation, preparing carts, and ensuring compliance with safety and sterilization standards. Requires HS diploma, formal surgical tech education, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Formal education in surgical technology.
• Current Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program or completed an appropriate training.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• Annual employee health requirement as established by the facility.
• Must complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due dates.

Responsibilities

• Scrub in and assist the physician for all cases.
• Assist with sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and storage.
• Review instrumentation needs and manage inventory and par levels.
• Follow manufacturers' instructions for disinfection of instrumentation and equipment.
• Assemble and deliver instrumentation to the operating room as needed.
• Maintain room turnovers and proper handling of waste and biohazardous materials.
• Document sterilization loads and biological tests to verify efficacy.
• Maintain documentation of instrumentation proficiency in tracking system.
