Job summary

The ideal candidate has basic OR experience, knowledge of asepsis, and strong communication; BCLS required, CST preferred, and 0-2 years OR experience is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments and supplies are organized and ready.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handle surgical instruments per instructions for use; ensure sterilization, inspection and assembly.
• Perform instrument counts with the circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assist in patient positioning, draping and transfers for safety and comfort.
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure accurate supplies for procedures.
• Clean, reprocess and sterilize instruments per established protocols.
• Restock supplies and return equipment to storage to keep ORs ready for next cases.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
