Job summary

UPMC East Hospital is hiring a full-time Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room. The role involves 3, 12-hour shifts weekly, starting as early as 6 am, Monday through Friday, with occasional rotating on-call time.

Qualifications

Must be licensed or meet state requirements for surgical technologists.
CPR/BLS within 30 days of hire per AHA standards.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technology in Surgery-Certified (TSC) within 6 months of program completion.

Responsibilities

Label and hand medications to the surgeon per policies.
Prepare operating room: instruments, trays, drapes, solutions; assemble equipment; ensure function.
Pass instruments to surgeons; assist with retractors, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
Assist in specimen handling and dressings; assist with sterile gowning.
Post-op: transfer patients to recovery and restock OR; prepare patients for surgery, position them, and maintain asepsis.
Maintain a safe environment and adhere to safety policies.
