Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons in the operating room and sterile processing areas. The role supports infection control, aseptic technique, and efficient intraoperative workflow across OR, ER, and clinics.

The incumbent will verify identities and procedures, prepare and maintain sterile instruments, and participate in counts and equipment setup. 1–3 years of experience preferred; on-call shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• CST NBSTSA certification required upon hire or TS-C/NCCT certification upon hire.
• 1–3 years surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within the scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Washes and sterilizes equipment; maintains a clean operating room.
• Rotates in SPD area to clean and sterilize instruments for OR, ER, clinics.
• Updates preference cards to reflect surgeon requests and team needs.
• Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon and consent.
