Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD is hiring a Surgical Technologist to provide high-quality professional care under the supervision of the Surgery Leader and/or Surgeon within the surgical suites and related care areas.

The position requires Technical Certificate in Surgical Technology and CST or TS-C certification upon hire, with 1–3 years of surgical experience preferred. Duties include aseptic technique, instrument handling, and assisting in the OR and SPD areas.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate in Surgical Technology or equivalent.
• CST or TS-C certification must be obtained upon hire.
• Experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within the scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Washes and sterilizes equipment and maintains a clean operating room.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, and clinics.
• Updates preference cards for procedures per surgeon requests.
• Verifies patient identity and operative details, including site and consent.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy.
• Assists in evaluating new supplies, equipment and instruments.
• Places equipment and arranges instruments in the operating room.
