Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Surgical Technologist (CST/ST) to support the Operating Room team. This full-time position requires scrubs experience, appropriate education, and BLS certification, with opportunities for certified advancement.

The candidate will assist with instrument handling, patient care coordination, and adherence to Mercy Service Standards while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications

• Experience: surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred and required for Level II/III.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED; postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: BLS certification; Surgical Technology Certification preferred; non-licensed candidates considered with experience.
• English: must understand English (written and spoken); physical demands apply.

Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Surgical Technologist (CST/ST)

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Operating Room

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/week

Shift: 8 Hour Days (Mon-Fri) + Additional Call Hours

Qualifications:

• Experience: Surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred for Surgical Technologist roles; and is required to be considered for Level II/III.

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.

• Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience.

• Other:Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law. Physical requirements/demands:

  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
