Job summary

IU Health North Hospital is seeking motivated Certified Surgical Technologists to join a fast-paced surgical unit with a robotic program and diverse specialties. The role focuses on ensuring proper equipment, assisting in the OR, and supporting the surgical team across orthopedics, general surgery, colorectal, urology, gynecology and cancer care.

This full-time night shift position requires NBSTSA certification, BLS, CEUs, and at least 1 year of experience, with a strong emphasis on sterile

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NBSTSA-certified Surgical Technologist required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 17 continuing education units annually required.
• Completion of Perioperative Services Preceptor class and/or 4 precepting eLMS modules or facility-based preceptor training.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Skilled Technologist or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment used in cases.
• Ability to support teams using advanced operating room technology.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper presence and arrangement of surgical equipment and instrumentation in the operating room.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by standards.
• Turnover the operating room after procedures and process specimens, equipment, and supplies.
• Work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs, and other OR staff.
