Job summary

IU Health North Hospital is seeking Certified Surgical Technologists to join our fast-paced surgical team. You will assist in pre-op setup, intraoperative support, and post-op turnover, ensuring sterile technique and instrument availability for a wide range of procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, NBSTSA CST certification within four months, BLS, the ability to adapt to advanced tech, and ongoing CEUs.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist within four months of employment.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Ability to resource advanced technology.
• Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate surgeon needs within 12 months.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring proper presence and arrangement of equipment.
• Support the surgeon and OR team to maintain efficient workflow.
• Oversee turnover of the operating room and proper processing of specimens, equipment, and supplies.

This position is a day shift role.On-call and Holiday required.

Certified Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.

• Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment.
