We are recruiting a full-time experienced Cardiac Surgical Technologist for our Operating Room at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, to assist the surgical team under the supervision of a professional nurse in providing skilled care for surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficient clinical skills in the scrub role and ability to scrub on various procedures.
• Handle instruments/equipment in the OR following aseptic techniques.
• Learn new scrub techniques and instrumentation, and seek feedback for improvement.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify learning needs.
• Provide feedback on preference cards and tray contents.
• Maintain safety standards and respond to crisis situations appropriately.
• Participate in care planning for patients across all age groups, considering developmental needs.
• Support team training and participate actively in unit activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.

Shift/Hours

• 80 hours per pay period, including 8 and 12-hour shifts
• 7 am - 7 pm, Monday to Friday
• Rotating weekends (once every 4th weekend)
• On-call obligation

Education & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited ORT program or minimum 2-year ORT experience preferred
• Combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Requirements

• BCLS certification
• Certification by AST or NBSTSA (CST) and 1 year OR experience

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per physical demands checklist
