Job summary

Southcoast Health is recruiting an experienced Surgical Technologist for our in-house traveler team. This 11–13 week assignment may extend for an additional 13 weeks if available, with day shifts and on-call rotation.

The position is based in the Main Operating Room at Tobey Hospital and may float to other Southcoast facilities as needed. Compensation is $55 per hour with health insurance and a 403(b) retirement plan eligibility.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or equivalent with additional specialized coursework.
• Graduate of an approved Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team during intra-operative procedures.
• Maintain aseptic, safe, and properly equipped surgical environment.
• Prepare the OR, provide instrument supply and assembly, maintain sterile fields, and pass instruments while counting.

Position Assignment Details:

• Hours: Full Time
• Shifts: Day Shift with weeknight, weekend and holiday on-call rotation.
• Area Assignment: Main Operating Room @ Tobey Hospital

*During assignment, maybe asked to float to any Southcoast Hospital: Charlton Memorial-Fall River, St. Luke's-New Bedford and Tobey--Wareham

Position reports to the Manager or designee. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required.

• Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One (1) year of Surgical Technologist experience is required.
