Job summary

Southcoast Health in New Bedford, MA is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support the intra-operative team in our Main Operating Room at St. Luke's Hospital.

The role provides aseptic, safe operating room environment, instrument supply, sterile field maintenance, and counts throughout procedures. 32–40 hours weekly, day/evening shifts 11:00am–7:30pm, with weeknight/weekend/holiday rotation. A $7,500 new hire sign-on bonus applies to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within 12 months of graduation or 6 months if hire is >12 months from graduation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during the intra-operative phase.
• Prepare OR, supply instruments, and maintain sterile fields.
• Initiate and document instrument counts during procedures.

We are searching for a talented Surgical Technologist

Hours: 32 flex 40hrs

Shift: Day/Eve Shift 11:00am -7:30pm. Weeknight, Weekend and Holiday Rotation.

Position reports to the Manager or designee. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required.

• Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required.
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from program or within 6 months of hire if greater than 12 months from graduation.
• Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
• One (1) year of related work experience is preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
