Qualifications

Pay Range

This range is provided by NYC Health + Hospitals. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Job Description

Purpose of Position: Under supervision, assist in providing surgical care, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare the operating room and sterile field, set up supplies and equipment.
  2. Assist with sterile solutions and medications, support anesthesia team if needed.
  3. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure.
  4. Help position patient and maintain safety standards.
  5. Perform gowning and gloving procedures.
  6. Assist in skin preparation and draping.
  7. Support surgeon with instruments and supplies, manage sponges.
  8. Assist with hemostasis and retractor holding during surgery.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Grandfathered Surgical Technologist status, or
  2. Completion of an approved training program in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service, or
  3. Federal service related to Surgical Technology.
Certification Requirements
  1. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from NBSTSA, or
  2. Completion of an accredited program and holding a credential from other recognized organizations like NCCT.
