BayCare Health System in Indiana is seeking a Surgical Technologist First Assistant to support the surgeon in the operating room. You will help position and prep patients, set up instruments, assist with exposure and hemostasis, and ensure sterile technique throughout procedures.

The position requires strong teamwork, communication, and a commitment to patient safety; on-call and flexible hours may apply.

Competenze

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Surgical Technology First Assist certificate required.
• 3+ years as a Surgical Tech and 1 year Surgical First Assistant experience required.

Mansioni

• Assists the surgeon during surgery and communicates preferences to the team.
• Positions, preps and drapes patients for procedures.

Position Description: Surgical Technologist First Assistant

• Responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgery and plays a vital role in the operating room during surgeries. Communicates the surgeon's preferences and specific patient needs to surgical team. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures. Provides retraction of tissues and organs for optimal visualization with regard to the surgical site. Assists with selecting equipment, holding incisions open, controlling bleeding, closing incisions and performing other technical duties.

Location: St Josephs South
Status: Full Time, Exempt: No
Shift Hours: 6:30am - 7:00pm
Weekend Work: Occasional
On Call: Yes

Requirements

• Required Experience: At least 3 years' experience as a Surgical Tech and 1-year Surgical First Assistant experience.
• Required Education: High School or Equivalent and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate
• Required License/Certification: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross and Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) Certification.
