Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:

Responsibilities

• Combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the implementation of tools and technology to facilitate physician/CNM performance in labor and delivery.
• Set up surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining sterility.
• Assist with preparing patients for the operating room or delivery.
• Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and assist with holding retractors and other instruments.
• Maintain inventory in all delivery and operating rooms.
• Assist with clerical duties, including entering patient orders, maintaining the delivery log, and daily patient census.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Certified Surgical Technology program
• Must be certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Active BLS certification

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 1-year of Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist experience
