Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to assist with surgical procedures under RN supervision at the John Colloton Pavilion. The role prepares and maintains specialized equipment, supports sterile technique, and collaborates with the surgical team to optimize case flow.

With 80–100% effort and rotating 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, on-campus employment offers a merit pay plan and shift differentials. Certification and two years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology.
• Certification as a surgical technologist (NBSTSA and NCCT).
• Two years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical area and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Serve as primary preceptor for Surgical Technology students and interns.
• Maintain asepsis and assist with instrument/implant handling during procedures.
• Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure patient safety and efficient flow of cases.
