Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care – North Liberty Campus seeks Surgical Technologists to join our operating rooms team. Under RN direction, you will assist with procedures, prepare and maintain equipment, and facilitate patient care across the perioperative environment.

Position may be filled as Surgical Technologist I or II. Requires certification (NBSTSA/NCCT) and 2 years of experience; benefits include comprehensive fringe benefits and opportunities to teach students and new staff.

Qualifications

• Surgical technology certification (NBSTSA or NCCT) or equivalent vocational/military training.
• Two years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical area for patient care and anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
• Serves as primary preceptor for Surgical Technology students and new staff.
• Participates in shared governance committees or EBP workgroups.
• Maintains aseptic technique and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
• Organizes and maintains instrument trays, implants, and supplies.
• Collaborates with surgeons and peers to ensure sterile field and patient safety.
