Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the surgical team under the supervision of a professional nurse. You will scrub across a wide range of procedures, handling instruments with aseptic technique and supporting patient safety.

The role requires education in surgical technology and at least one year of experience; Certification in CST/TS-C is preferred. The position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus and daytime hours with occasional on-call.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program for any employee hired after 2009.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficient clinical skills in the scrub role.
• Scrubs on a wide range of procedures.
• Handles instruments/equipment in OR with aseptic technique.
• Opens to learning scrub techniques for new procedures and instrumentation."
• Identifies learning needs with leadership and pursues opportunities.
• Provides feedback about preference cards and tray contents to the Assistant Nurse Manager.
• Maintains safety by following established rules and practices.
• Responds to crises within unit standards and notifies RN.
• Plans care for diverse patient ages from neonatal to geriatric.
• Functions as a team member and participates in unit activities.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
• Acts as a preceptor for new employees in areas of expertise.
