Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist II in the operating room to set up sterile fields, gather supplies, and pass instruments to surgeons during procedures. You will also perform counts and serve as a resource for junior technologists.

The role requires CST/TS-C/CORST certification and Virginia state registration, with 6 months of related experience. Shifts include weekends and holidays with on-call obligations.

Qualifications

• Must be certified: CST, TS-C or CORST and registered with the State Board of Medicine.
• Minimum 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent.
• Ability to work all shifts and handle call for routine/high acuity cases.

Responsibilities

• Set up sterile field and gather supplies for surgical cases.
• Pass instruments to surgeons during procedures.
• Perform count procedures according to policy.
• Serve as resource and preceptor to less experienced staff.
• Take call after orientation period; rotate shifts as needed.
• Comply with hospital policies and safety standards.
