Job summary

UNC Health Rex Cary OR Services seeks a Surgical Technologist to maintain sterile fields and support the surgeon’s performance in an ambulatory setting in Cary, NC. The role requires ASCs experience, strong instrument knowledge, and teamwork. On-call may be required, with a 40-hour work week and daytime schedule.

Minimum 3 years OR experience preferred; CST/TS-C/tech credentials valued. Competitive hourly pay and benefits apply; on-site work at Rex Cary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; higher-level degrees may satisfy.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing program or Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology.
• 5+ years OR experience as a surgical tech; CST or Tech credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment.
• Demonstrates and practices sterile technique; advanced instrumentation knowledge.
• Prepares Operating Room with instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Performs instrument counts and supports patient safety according to policy.
• Maintains skills to care for patients from infancy to geriatric in OR/ASC.
• Adheres to policies, standards and safety practices of OR and ASC.
• Mentors new staff and serves as a resource to others.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and ensures room readiness.
