Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team before, during, and after surgeries. The role involves setting up the operating suite with instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting with patient positioning and draping under surgeon guidance.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited program completion, CST/TS-C certification within 6 months, and CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

Minimum one-year certificate from a college or technical school, or 3–6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred 1–3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
Education and Certification: Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire.
CPR - American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies.
Uses aseptic techniques and follows medication and specimen handling policies.
Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to confirm patient and site.
Understands surgeon preference and patient care variables and contributes to updating surgeon preference materials.
Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost-effective and efficient environment for patients.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
