Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a qualified Surgical Technologist to support operations before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role emphasizes aseptic technique, accurate instrument handling, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, positioning and draping patients, performing counts, and adhering to HIPAA and privacy policies. CPR certification within 60 days of hire is required, with additional employment requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum one year certificate from a college or technical school.
• Preferred 1–3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• CPR certification within 60 days of hire as part of employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilizes aseptic techniques and follows standard precautions for medication and specimen handling.
• Prepares, positions and drapes patients and participates in the surgical pause to confirm patient and site.
• Understands surgeon preferences and patient care variables and helps update surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost effectiveness and an efficient patient environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
