Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center North Liberty is seeking Surgical Technologists to assist with procedures under the direction of Staff Nurses. You will prepare, operate and maintain equipment, supplies and implants, contributing to patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

The role requires completion of a vocational program or certification as a Surgical Technologist, with a 100% schedule and rotating 10-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a vocational program or certification in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical area for patient care and anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
• Maintains asepsis and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
• Assists with equipment, instruments, supplies and implants in the operating room.
• Performs delegated technical tasks and supports nursing staff as needed.
• Mentors new staff and scrub technologists to ensure proper procedures.
