Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to support operations before, during, and after surgical procedures. Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of aseptic techniques is essential.
• Certification in CST/TS-C within 6 months preferred for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies (20%).
• Utilizes aseptic techniques and follows policy for medication and specimen handling (20%).
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to confirm patient and site (20%).
• Understands and adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables; contributes to updating preference materials (20%).
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts (10%).
• Maintains cost-conscious practices and efficient environment for patients (10%).
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
