Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support OR teams before, during, and after procedures. This role requires proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument knowledge, and adherence to patient care protocols in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities include setting up the operating room, assisting with patient positioning, counting sponges and instruments, participating in the surgical pause, and ensuring efficient, cost-conscious care.

Qualifications

• 3 years of surgical technologist experience.
• Diploma or certificate from a college or accredited technical school.

Responsibilities

• Support OR specialties and be available for on call coverage.
• Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilize proper aseptic techniques and follow standard precautions for medication and specimen handling.
• Assist with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participate in the surgical pause to ensure correct patient and site.
• Understand surgeon preferences and patient care variables and contribute to updating materials.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Care for and utilize resources to promote cost effective and efficient environment for patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
