Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. You will assist in setting up the operating suite, maintain aseptic technique, and handle specimens and medications per policy.

The role requires a certificate program in surgical technology or equivalent experience, with a preference for 1–3 years of practice. CPR and readiness to adapt to surgeon preferences are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year certificate from a college or technical school or 3–6 months related training or an equivalent combination.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist preferred per additional requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Maintains aseptic technique and follows standard precautions.
• Follows policy for medication and specimen handling.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients for surgery.
• Supports surgeon preference materials and patient care variables.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Uses resources to promote a cost-effective and efficient patient environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
