Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support operative procedures. You will assist in preparing the operating suite, maintain strict aseptic technique, and participate in the surgical pause to verify patient and site, ensuring safety and efficiency in a busy environment.

The role requires a certificate in surgical technology and preference for 1–3 years of experience; CPR within 60 days is included among requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum: One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilizes aseptic techniques and follows standard precautions, including medication and specimen handling.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to verify patient and site.
• Understands and adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables; contributes to updating surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost-effective and efficient patient care environment.
