Job Overview

This position involves performing direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Assist in setting up the surgical suite with instruments and supplies. (20%)
2. Follow aseptic techniques and standard precautions. Handle medications and specimens per policy. (20%)
3. Prepare, position, and drape patients; participate in surgical site verification. (20%)
4. Understand and adapt to surgeon preferences and patient care variables; update preference materials as needed. (20%)
5. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts. (10%)
6. Utilize resources efficiently to promote cost-effective patient care. (10%)
7. Perform other duties as assigned. (Remaining responsibilities)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or related experience/training, or equivalent education.
• For those hired after 12/29/2020: completion of a recognized Surgical Technologist program and certification; or employment in surgical technology by a healthcare facility before or within two years prior to this date.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of surgical technologist experience.
