Position Details

Full Time Days

Monday-Friday 10:30 am - 7:00 pm

Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, performs duties of a primary or secondary surgical technologist in surgical procedures.

Minimum Education

Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited by ABHES, CAAHEP, or the State.

Licensure, Registration, and Certification

Certified through NBSTSA or NCCT. CPR certification required.

Work Experience

0-2 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Ability to prepare and maintain a sterile field.
• Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains sterile field, anticipates and provides instrumentation and supplies necessary for surgery.
• Facilitates patient flow through case turnover.
• Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis.
• Prepares instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to procedure requirements.
• Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts; reports discrepancies.
• Performs high-level disinfection.
• Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty cases and serves as a preceptor.
• Makes adjustments to surgeon’s preference cards as requested.

Decision Making

Uses independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in complex technical or professional tasks.

Working Relationships

Works directly with patients and other healthcare professionals, often at director level or above.

Special Job Dimensions

Responds to and may need to take emergency calls, if applicable.
