Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are responsible for performing skilled and complex technical work assisting professional rehabilitation staff in providing services to individuals with physical and mental disabilities, blindness, or visual impairment.

Typical Functions
  • Provides skilled technical assistance to rehabilitation staff in direct client services.
  • Assists clients in completing application for services.
  • Arranges and gathers medical diagnosis information and case-related correspondence.
  • Arranges and authorizes services included in an approved rehabilitation plan.
  • Processes case data, including applications, eligibility data, Individualized Plans for Employment, case notes, closures, and authorizations.
  • Maintains files and transfers case records through management information systems.
  • Performs tasks related to general office operations and reception duties based on office needs.
Level Descriptor
Level I

This is the entry-level where employees perform work in training under close supervision, providing information about rehabilitation programs, arranging medical procedures, researching electronic case files, and performing office tasks. Training is provided in client application gathering and policy interpretation.

Level II

This career level involves responsibilities for a full range of activities, including coordinating client services, assisting with applications, providing resource referrals, and maintaining electronic case files. Additional duties include medical referrals and research tasks.

Level III

This is the specialist level with advanced responsibilities such as managing caseloads, conducting follow-ups, maintaining contacts with medical and educational vendors, and possibly acting as team leader or assistant to the program manager.

Education and Experience
  • Level I: One year of technical clerical experience.
  • Level II: Two years of technical clerical experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Level III: Two years of technical clerical experience plus one in vocational rehabilitation, or a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields plus experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
  • Level I: Basic computer skills, spelling, punctuation, grammar, basic arithmetic, and office policies.
  • Level II: Includes knowledge of rehabilitation services and programs.
  • Level III: Adds casework management knowledge and advanced skills.
Special Requirements

Proficiency in American Sign Language may be required; willingness to travel; some positions are safety-sensitive.

Additional Job Description

Positions may be filled at Level I, II, or III, located in Tulsa, within the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Responsibilities include assisting with scheduling testing, scoring assessments, managing files, and general office duties. Willingness to travel is required.
