An established institution is seeking a Level 1 Incident Response Analyst to join its dynamic Information Security team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety of university operations through effective risk management and response to security incidents. Working/Functional Title: Level 1 Incident Response Analyst
The MSU Information Security team aims to achieve university success through precision Information Security focused on risk management, engagement, and education.
Reporting directly to the Incident Response Supervisor, this role interfaces with MSU staff and focuses on triaging incoming tickets and requests. IT knowledge is essential for assisting customers with security concerns or requests and processing eDiscovery requests from Legal and FOIA offices. Tickets will be handled by the analyst or escalated to higher-level analysts as appropriate. The Level 1 analyst will address minor security incidents, often partnering with higher-level analysts, while major incidents are managed as a team. Participants are involved in planning sessions and team discussions to gain exposure and insight. This growth role is designed to challenge and expand the skills of its occupants. Once trained, the role includes participation in the weekly IR on-call rotation.

Equivalent to a four-year college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related IT field, including coursework relevant to the role; or 1-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in IT or System Administration, familiarity with Active Directory, ticket management software, security concepts, Identity and Access Control, EDR and MDR platforms, and log analysis. Strong customer service skills and teamwork orientation are preferred.
