Job summary

LiveWell Homecare Agency in Pittsburgh seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons across age groups, ensuring patient safety and proper protocol adherence.

You will prepare and connect clinical equipment, maintain aseptic technique, participate in timeouts, and assist with specimens, dressings, and post-operative care. This role also involves on-call rotations and opportunities to train students within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible per state law with specialty training.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical protocols.
• Excellent teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and connect clinical equipment, maintain aseptic technique, assist with instruments.
• Support timeouts, site verification, and specimen handling.
• Maintain sterile environment, manage wounds and dressings.
• Assist with patient admission, discharge and post-operative care.
• Perform billing, on-call rotations, and quality control tasks.
• Serve as a preceptor for students and comply with policies.
• Support additional duties such as specimen collection and patient transport under supervision.

Role Overview:

Assists surgeons during surgical procedures across all age groups, ensuring patient safety and proper protocol adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supports surgical team by preparing and connecting clinical equipment, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with instruments and supplies.
• Participates in surgical timeouts, site verification, and specimen handling to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Maintains sterile environment, manages wound dressings, and disposes of sharps and linens appropriately.
• Assesses wounds, applies dressings, and assists with patient admission, discharge, and post-operative care.
• Performs billing, manages emergency procedures, and participates in on-call rotations.
• Acts as a preceptor for students, complies with policies, and performs quality control tasks.
• Supports additional duties such as specimen collection, patient transport, and post-mortem care, under supervision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible per state law, with a specialty training program graduate. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical protocols, and teamwork essential.
