Job summary

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Surgical Technician certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a surgical technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
  • Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
  • Use proper sterilization methods for instruments prior to procedures.
  • Understand asepsis and the standards and techniques to addressing asepsis and takes corrective action when any unsafe practice, conditions or breaks occur.
  • Prepare the operating room with sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures.
  • Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.
  • Perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases.
  • Anticipate the needs and assists the surgeon with retracting tissue, holding instrumentation and cutting suture.

Your Everyday
