Job summary

LCMC Health in Louisiana is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team and ensure safe surgeries for every patient. You will maintain a sterile environment, prepare instrumentation, and assist during procedures with a focus on precision and teamwork.

You will scrub in with surgeons, help with patient positioning, and uphold aseptic technique while communicating effectively with the circulating nurse to ensure smooth, efficient operative flow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Provide scrub assistance during procedures, reflecting awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge.
• Demonstrate application of asepsis principles and select proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment prior to procedures, verify sterile instruments, and report unsafe practices to the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up the back table, draping, and counting with the circulating nurse.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Certification for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Current BLS certification.
