Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Scrub Tech/Surgical Technologist Extern PRN works as a collaborative member of the SPD and Surgical Services team, following protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, packaging, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies. You will distribute supplies within the facility and inventory, receive, and restock materials supporting sterile processing services.

• Prepare and distribute surgical case carts based on physician preferences and perioperative team needs.
• Monitor, interpret, and document sterilizer indicator results.
• Assist OR staff in obtaining instruments and equipment for surgical cases.
• Prioritize processing of instrument sets based on schedule changes.
• Help locate instrumentation and complete instrument sets as needed.
• Assist in patient positioning according to protocols.
• Set up and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Work closely with OR staff to ensure rapid turnover of OR rooms.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology Program (required).
• 1+ year healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS or BCLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire (required).
