Job summary

ThedaCare seeks a Surgical Technologist to support safe, efficient operating room care at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton. You will prepare sterile fields, select instruments, and assist with patient care under nursing and physician direction.

Requirements include completion of a surgical technologist program and BLS; ACLS is preferred for Cath Lab work. The role emphasizes sterile technique, patient safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for consideration.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program.
• Certification: BLS required; ACLS certification preferred for Cath Lab assignments.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
• Selects instruments, equipment, and supplies for each surgical procedure.
• Prepares room for procedure by setting up sterile tables and checking equipment.
• Scrubs for surgical procedures by assisting with prepping and draping patients and passing instruments.
• Follows sterile technique principles and corrects any breaks in sterility.
• Identifies specimens and transports to pathology as directed.
• Identifies intra-procedure medications and labeling to ensure safe administration.
• Assists with patient transfers to maintain operating room efficiency and safety.
• Cleans rooms, instruments, and equipment per regulatory standards.
