Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Maple Grove, MN, is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the Ambulatory Surgery Center team. This is a 0.01 FTE casual opening with no scheduled shifts per pay period and not eligible for benefits.

The role supports scrub activities, collaborates with the RN, and ensures high-quality patient care across diverse ages. Shift times vary; Monday–Friday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved Surgical Technology program.
• BLS for health care providers.
• 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
• Must be available to work Monday-Friday, day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as scrub person during operative/endo procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and provide instruments, sutures, and specialty items.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout all sterile procedures.
• Assist in the proper identification and handling of specimens.
• Ensure accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts are completed.
• Act promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Adjust care to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the patient population.
• Communicate respectfully and maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Engage in patient education as needed, based on an assessment of patient and caregiver learning needs.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
• Participate in fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
