Job summary

Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide skilled, technical care to patients during surgical procedures and to participate in an on-call rotation as agreed by the employee and the Director of Surgery.

Two full-time openings require 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 am – 5:00 pm) with flexibility for a 7:00 am start; one night called per week and one holiday per year. The role emphasizes preparation, instrument counts, and teamwork in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure.
• Reviews patient charges from each operative procedure for accuracy.
• Demonstrates awareness of patient rights and safety during procedures and timeouts.
• Maintains proper counts of sponges, needles, and instruments; reports discrepancies.
• Communicates with the health care team to ensure correct equipment and procedures.
