Job summary

Ascension is seeking a skilled surgical technologist for St. Johns, FL. The role involves maintaining a sterile operating room, passing instruments to surgeons, and assisting with patient positioning and draping throughout procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a BLS certification and a high school diploma or higher, with an Associate's/Technical degree or substantial related experience. This position supports a day shift with PRN options, within a faith-based nonprofit health system.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree/technical degree or 4 years of cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout procedures.
• Assists surgeons with provision of hemostasis during surgery.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
