Job summary

UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO, seeks a Surgical Technician for the Cardiovascular OR team. This on-site role supports a range of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures at a Level 1 Trauma Center, with strong preference for CVOR experience. On-call duties apply, with a quarterly specialty call bonus.

The position assists in preparing the operating room, passing instruments, and ensuring equipment readiness, with a focus on patient safety and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
  • BLS/ CPR card through AHA or Red Cross must be valid through 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to physician during surgery and tracks instruments/supplies.
  • Receives and processes specimens for laboratory delivery.
  • Maintains critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced environment.

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

This position is part of our specialized Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team, supporting a diverse range of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical procedures at a Level 1 Trauma Center. Cardiovascular OR experience strongly preferred.

On call responsibilities are required and position is eligible for quarterly specialty call bonus.

Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
  • Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
