Job summary

Saint John Hospital, Inc. in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a per diem position. The role involves setting up instruments, maintaining sterile technique, passing instruments to surgeons, counting supplies, and assisting in patient positioning.

Strong communication with the OR team is essential. Requirements include a high school diploma and current BLS certification; ORT-trained candidates or those with on-the-job surgical experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties is a plus.
• ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 2 years in a surgical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment and sterilize all instruments before surgery.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assist with various tasks.
• Count and manage sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
• Help position and drape patients appropriately for surgery.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers . You must have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintained.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties
• Graduation from an ORT training program within 6 months of hire or on-the-job training with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting
