Job summary

Trinity Health MI seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist for day shifts on a full-time basis. You will assist surgeons and residents by organizing and passing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and enabling efficient sterile workflows.

The role requires completion of an accredited program and certification within one year, with ongoing certification. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to support diverse teams and patient care within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
• Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
• Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What the Surgical Technologist Will Need:

• Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Completion of Certification Examination required within one year of employment.
• Must maintain certification throughout employment.

What a Surgical Technologist will work:

• Full time
• 80 hours per pay period
• Four 10 hour shifts per week variable days; 0645-1715 with some variability per CBA
• Weekends, call and holidays to be scheduled in accordance with CBA
