Job summary

UCHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Cook St OR All Spec Activity in Denver. This full-time, on-site role supports the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures in a busy operating suite.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, assisting during surgery, handling instruments and specimens, and maintaining equipment. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, Surgical Tech registration, and BLS CPR certification; 6 months of experience preferred.

• 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech program.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments; assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and accounts for instruments during procedure.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option.

Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
• Required Licensure/Certification: State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
• Minimum Experience: 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.
• BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
