Job summary

UCHealth Longs Peak ASC in Longmont is seeking a National Surgical Tech or Surgical Assistant to facilitate safe, efficient surgical procedures. This is an onsite PRN position with a Day shift and no remote option.

You will prepare the operating suite, pass instruments, and assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and instrument counts. BLS certification and 6 months of surgical tech experience are required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• CO State Licensed Surg Tech or Assistant.
• 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited program.
• High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and accounts for instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and works with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $27.61 - $41.41 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• Credentials:
• Basic Life Support- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All renewals must be issued by the American Heart Association.
