Job Title: Surgical Technician - Same Day Surgery (Full Time Days)

Location: DMC Harper University Hospital

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of duties in the OR to assist the surgical team, following established policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Scrubs on all types of procedures, handles surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges, and assists the surgeon as needed. Maintains aseptic technique and ensures all items are accounted for during and after surgery. Observes patient's condition and reports changes.
2. Prepares for scheduled procedures, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready.
3. Maintains a clean and safe OR environment, sterilizes equipment, restocks supplies, and maintains surgical instruments and equipment.
4. Assists in transporting patients to and from the OR, verifies patient identity, and helps with positioning.
5. May assist as second circulator under RN supervision, prepare materials for in-service education, assist in evaluating new surgical products, and participate in departmental committees.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent training/experience.
• Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
• One to two years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.
