Job summary

Gadsden Regional Medical Center seeks a Surgical Technician to support the surgeon and perioperative team during procedures. This role prepares and maintains sterile surgical fields, assists with procedures, and ensures instruments and supplies are used appropriately.

The technician adheres to infection control standards and facility policies to support optimal patient outcomes and works with the perioperative team to restock, clean, and prepare rooms between cases.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases
• Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies
• Handles surgical instruments and ensures proper sterilization and counts
• Maintains infection prevention standards and compliance
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfers
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments per protocol
• Restocks supplies and ensures rooms are ready for subsequent cases
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies
