Job summary

Santa Rosa Medical Center Inc. seeks a Surgical Technician to collaborate with the surgeon and perioperative team, preparing and maintaining sterile fields, assisting with procedures, and ensuring proper use and sterilization of instruments to support optimal patient outcomes.

The role requires technical training in surgical technology or nursing, an associate degree, and 0–2 years OR experience, with BCLS certification and CST preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments and supplies are organized and sterile.
• Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies quickly and accurately.
• Handles surgical instruments per instructions for use and ensures proper sterilization and inspection.
• Performs point-of-use cleaning and ensures instrument counts with the circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer methods to ensure safety and comfort during procedures.
• Maintains physician preference cards and ensures supplies are available for procedures.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments following established protocols.
• Restocks supplies and ensures operating rooms are ready for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
